What was wrong
The published article reported a UK MOD / MBDA £184 million ASRAAM contract for the F-35B as a May 2026 event. On editorial review, that contract is an August 2016 announcement. The published facts — the £184 million value, the £40 million Bolton Logistics North facility “nearing completion”, the 400 jobs sustained figure, and the F-35 service-life extension “beyond 2027” (which is a decade-shifted version of the original “beyond 2022”) — all derive from the 2016 Ministry of Defence press release. The article should not have been published.
